Junior Fellowships
In 1992 Collegium Budapest/Institute for
Advanced Study was
founded in order to support and strengthen
academic life in
Central and Eastern Europe. The Collegium
invites scholars from
both within and outside of Europe every year for
an entire
academic year or for only one semester. In
addition, the
Collegium plans to invite several promising
young scholars to
Budapest to work, within this challenging
academic environment,
on their preferred research project.
While both old and new academic problems are
given powerful
voices to make arguments for both sides, the
goal of the
Collegium is to encourage research in newly
emerging disciplines
and in new problem areas we confront in the 21st
century. Along
with other research plans that will be
emphasized are the
cultural, socio-political and economic
transformation that the
Central and East European countries are
presently undergoing. Of
especial importance are the emerging scholarly
fields still
underrepresented in this region, and also fields
that are made
unique by the research done in this area. The
Collegium Budapest
is able to bring together researchers from
various research
traditions and cultures and to create an
inviting and brilliant
place for scholarly research.
To this end, the Collegium offers, for the
Academic Year
2004/2005 (1 October to 31 July), residential
Junior Fellowships
for a period of five to ten months to younger
scholars and to
researchers (mainly from Central and Eastern
Europe) working in
the following academic fields:
-
anthropology
-
discourse analysis
-
economics
European studies
-
humanities
-
history
-
linguistics
-
social sciences
-
theoretical biology
-
theoretical physics
-
transition studies
The stipend package consists of a stipend lump
sum of 7.500 euro
for the 5-month period and 12.500 for the entire
academic year,
including travel costs etc. Scholars not in
residence in Budapest
or in its direct neighbourhood will be provided
with
accommodation
