Subsidies for Certain Activities of Organizations Pursuing Human Rights Objectives

Objectives
This program, part of the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights, covers the following areas:
-
promotion of Community and international initiatives aimed at abolishing the death penalty in all countries;
-
training of people responsible for teaching others about human rights (judges, lawyers, civil servants, those responsible for the training of police and security forces, teachers);
-
children’s rights;
-
promotion and protection of women’s rights, including action to combat the trafficking of women;
-
reinforce rights of ethnic minorities such as Roma;
-
rights of indigenous people worldwide;
-
promote training with organizations specializing in the defence of human rights;
-
support for organizations which specialize in caring for refugees;
-
promote the protection of human rights in countries where there is soon to be a change of sovereignty;
-
assistance to international NGOs working for the establishment of an international criminal court;
-
aid for victims of terrorist acts and their families;
-
support of the establishment and maintenance of rehabilitation centres for torture victims and other organizations offering concrete help to victims of human rights abuses;
-
a European human rights and democratization network to guarantee the collection, analysis, updating and dissemination of information concerning the EU’s human rights policies.
Eligibility
Non-profit organizations – non-governmental and other organizations which provide legal advice or aid to persons or associations in need thereof.
