Why Should I Join?

The mission of the Romanian Telework Society (SRT) is to assure the beneficial, open evolution of the Information Society and its related internetworking technologies through leadership in standards, issues, and education.

You can be a part of that!

In addition to the technological, education, and standards issues, SRT is involved in a variety of initiatives stemming from social, economic, political, ethical, and legal sources that can and do exert influence on the direction of the Internet.

Our current programs include the following:

Legal Defense of "Information Society":

SRT has taken action to ensure that the term "Internet" is accepted as generic or descriptive and not one that can be trademarked, to protect and free the term Information Society from ownership.

Information Society Industry Self-Governance:

The Information Society is active in a variety of issues such as global electronic commerce, encryption, censorship, privacy, and many more.

Information Society Standards Development:

The SRT groups responsible for the technical underpinnings of the Information Society, including standards and protocols, operate under the auspices of the Information Society.

Conferences:

The Romanian Telework Society sponsors one annual conference: ISS focuses on the worldwide issues of the Information Society by bringing together people developing and implementing networks, applications, and policies for the Information Society infrastructure. 

Education and Training:

Branches:

Our network of Romanian Telework Society Branches continues to grow and provides local forums for individuals to pursue a variety of Information Society related issues.

We are greatly expanding the number of branches and the level of branch activity. Our branches give you the opportunity to be involved in national and regional issues.

Publications:

As a member, you receive a subscription to SRT's Teleactivities, the twice a month magazine that reports on the global Internet, its related technologies, and its influence on business, education, government, and culture. You also receive NGO Forum, containing more timely information about Information Society and Non Governmental Organizations-related topics.

Discounts:

Members also qualify for discounts on various products and services.

Membership in the Romanian Telework Society helps assure support for the efforts cited above and will enable us to take additional steps to see that the phenomenon of the Information Society, and the resultant opportunities, will neither be co-opted nor fragmented. Along with   organizations and  individuals, you will be a part of the ever growing and important movement towards true global connectivity and meaningful understanding.
