“Reach abroad”

Introduction

The Student arena is the biggest NGO market ever organised in Slovenia, where more than 100 organisations, institutions present themselves, and where a lot of interesting seminars, lectures, entertainment events take place.

Background

The international department of the National Student Club organisation is going to carry out training courses on the topic of How to organise international youth events.

As the conclusion and a practical follow up, we would like to invite partner organisations to participate in the Student arena 2003, since until know, we had no guests from abroad.

The participants of this training courses have the possibility to apply their knowledge in real international project, which can be create during the meeting of the Slovene and foreign organisations.

NGO market

The NGO market consists of exhibition, workshops and roundtable discusions. The exhibition provides the opportunity to learn about other organisations working in the field of citizenship and participation, political participation, human rights, peace education, development of multicultural and civil society, youth and education.

NGO present their project and activities thus enabling participants to discover the opportunities they offer.

We aim at narrowing the communication gap between NGO's themselves, encouraging cooperation and thus increasing the efficiency of NGO's work and trying to avoid duplication of activates and consequently waste of some resources.

From the 13.th -20.th of October 2003

Objectives

• Presentation of organisations and projects from abroad and from Slovenia
• Short presentations of certain topics regarding youth work and youth policy in the participating countries
• Establishing new partnerships and cooperation, creating new international projects
• Exchange know-how and best practices about involving youth in active participation on the international level

Activities

·        On the 14.th-16.th there will be the presentation of the organisations and short presentation of the preparatory work regarding topics, which could be interesting for youth.

(The themes will be decided after the partners will be know)

·        Contact making workshops, together with the Slovene organisations, where new projects are created

·        Field visits of some successful youth organisations

·        Free time for discovering Ljubljana and the neighbourhood

·        A report of all the presentations will be made

Board and lodging

We will apply for grant at the European Youth foundation.

Accommodation will be provided by the hosting organisation.

Partners

We would like to host 4 representatives of different organisations from 7 countries.
